The Fragrance
There is something intoxicating about setting out without knowing exactly what you will find.
Merchant of Wonder was created from that spirit of discovery.
What began as an exploration of spice, woods and aromatic botanicals slowly transformed as the fragrance rested and matured. Over time, an unexpected character emerged—warm and creamy, touched with spice, carrying impressions of Caribbean spiced rum, vanilla, sun-warmed wood and warm ocean air without ever becoming a literal tropical fragrance.
It opens with an aromatic brightness, where bergamot, high-elevation lavender, cardamom, rosemary and nutmeg create a lively current of citrus, herbs and warm spice.
As the opening settles, the fragrance becomes richer and smoother. Vanilla, orris, rose and frankincense form a soft, subtly resinous heart before giving way to the deeper warmth below.
At its foundation, sandalwood, labdanum, benzoin and tonka create a creamy, ambered richness. Saffron, ambergris and hyraceum add intriguing mineral, leathery and subtly animalic nuances that lend depth and complexity to the composition.
Together, these natural essences create impressions that aren’t explicitly placed there—spiced rum, coconut-like creaminess, warm woods and the suggestion of air carried across open water.
The effect is difficult to place in a single landscape.
And that is precisely the point.

The Composition
Merchant of Wonder is crafted as a natural Eau de Parfum, with a 20% aromatic concentration in a base of 190-proof organic grain alcohol.
Eau de Parfum offers a beautiful balance between richness and lift, allowing the brighter aromatic and spice notes to emerge before gradually revealing the creamy woods, resins and deeper materials beneath.
Like all natural perfumes, its longevity and evolution will vary with environment, application and individual skin chemistry.

How It Wears
Merchant of Wonder begins brighter and more animated than its warm character might suggest. Citrus, aromatic herbs and spice appear first before giving way to the softer warmth of vanilla, orris, rose and frankincense.
As the natural essences warm against the skin, the fragrance becomes increasingly smooth and atmospheric. Creamy sandalwood and golden resins rise from beneath the heart, while ambergris, saffron and hyraceum contribute a more elusive depth.
Eventually, the individual notes begin to blur into impressions—warm wood, spice, spiced rum, coconut-like creaminess and distant sea air.
It is a fragrance that rewards attention.

The Nature of Artisan Perfumery
Each bottle of Merchant of Wonder is blended by hand in small artisan batches using natural aromatic materials. Botanicals are living materials whose character can vary subtly with harvest, climate, origin and age. Just as no two vintages of wine are precisely identical, slight variations between batches are a natural part of botanical perfumery.
Some fragrances are blended or finished to order. Please allow up to 2–3 weeks for processing when indicated so the perfume has appropriate time to rest and mature before it leaves the Apothecary.
Skin & Sensitivity
Formulations are crafted with applicable IFRA guidance and ingredient safety considerations in mind; however, natural does not mean allergen-free. Individual sensitivities vary, and botanical materials may contain naturally occurring fragrance allergens.
Patch testing is recommended before broader application. Apply a small amount to a limited area of skin and discontinue use if irritation or sensitivity occurs.
